EPC compliances.

The appropriate application Decoproyec® ECOPROCORK® [SLICS™] is a major component of improving energy efficiency due to the effective insulate coverage of large exposed areas of buildings.

Lots of colours and finishes to suit most applications.

No, it is a textured finish. It’s slightly stippled, and it is the granulation of the cork which gives it its performance.

You can apply Decoproyec® ECOPROCORK® [SLICS™] over existing renders and other substrates while receiving a 10-year product warranty. However, it’s important to remember that [SLICS™] alone cannot fix a blown or shot render. Therefore, any existing issues with the substrate must be addressed and rectified before applying the [SLICS™] system. To determine the most appropriate course of action for your specific situation, it’s highly recommended to have an Approved [SLICS™] Applicator perform a thorough site survey. They will provide expert guidance based on your specific needs and circumstances. For example, if your sand and cement render has hairline or settlement cracks but remains stable overall, you can directly apply SprayCork over it.

Yes, Ecoprocork SLICS Spayed cork will go directly onto washed pebble dash, roughcast, Tyrolene, monocouche or stippled paint. Please note the overall thickness of SprayCork is around 4mm so the texture of the sub-surface will still be visible. However, the finish will look more subtle and is very effective. If a smoother finish is required, a levelling base coat of DecoproCal Lime and cork render base coat will be needed first. Please speak to an Approved Applicator or call our technical team if you would like any advice.

Certainly! Decoproyec® ECOPROCORK® [SLICS™] adheres to various substrates, including brickwork, with the exception of silicone. When applied, the overall thickness of [SLICS™] is around 3-4mm, which means the mortar lines of the bricks will still be visible. For a smoother finish, it is recommended to apply a base coat before spraying the cork. Both the textured and smooth finishes are visually appealing, so the choice ultimately depends on personal preference and budget considerations. If the bricks are dusty, a primer may be necessary, but the Approved Applicator will provide guidance on this matter. It’s
important to note that any missing pointing should be repaired before applying the spray cork system. The Approved [SLICS™] Applicator will advise on the necessary steps and ensure the proper preparation for a successful application.

At ECOPROCORK UK, we do not directly apply the product ourselves. Instead, we supply the product to a network of independent companies who have successfully passed our rigorous training program at our specialised training centre for [SLICS™]. These companies, known as
Approved [SLICS™] Applicators, are skilled professionals who often have expertise in working with various materials. To obtain a quote for your project, we recommend contacting a locally Approved [SLICS™] Applicator. If you require assistance finding companies near your
location, please get in touch with us, and we will provide you with the relevant details. We strive to connect you with qualified professionals who meet your needs.

At ECOPROCORK UK, we don’t involve ourselves in the pricing of the work performed by Approved [SLICS™] Applicators. The pricing is entirely determined by the applicators themselves. Each project is unique, considering factors such as access, building size, condition, location, and more. Therefore, an on-site survey by the Approved [SLICS™] Applicator is necessary to provide an accurate quote. In some cases, the applicator may be able to provide a rough estimate based on photographs of the project. However, this is not always possible, and a site survey is typically required for an accurate quotation. If you’re uncertain about the suitability of cork for your project or require technical guidance, please feel free to call us at 0121 724 0280 and ask for our technical team. They will gladly discuss the product, explain the necessary work involved, and evaluate the project’s feasibility based on the provided photos. Prior to your call, you can email the photos to in**@********rk.com for their review.

One of the most commonly asked technical questions is about the U-Value of our product. It’s important to note that we do not provide a specific U-Value for the product alone, as the U-Value of a wall is determined by its complete build. However, if you would like to calculate the U-Value of your wall, the Lambda value of Decoproyec® ECOPROCORK® [SLICS™] is .058W/mk. For a better understanding of the potential reduction in U-Value, we have conducted tests and the results can be found in the blog section of our website. It’s worth mentioning that Spray Layered Cork [SLICS™] forms a continuous skin without any joins or gaps, which enhances the air tightness of the walls. Although this aspect is not measured in U-Value testing, it contributes to improving the overall energy efficiency and thermal performance of the building.

Indeed, [SLICS™] is a specialised coating process specifically designed for trade use and is not intended for do-it-yourself (DIY) applications. Our priority is to ensure that the course participants are qualified companies or individuals from suitable trades. When booking the training course, we carefully assess and qualify applicants to ensure they meet the necessary criteria and have relevant trade experience. This approach ensures the training is tailored to professionals who can effectively utilise the [SLICS™] system in their respective fields.

The application process for both internal and external applications of [SLICS™] remains the same. All you need is a clean and dry surface, and the [SLICS™] will adhere effectively to any substrate, excluding pure silicon. The product is applied through spraying, either using a gravity-fed hopper gun or a spray machine equipped with a 6mm nozzle (please note that airless spraying is not suitable). It’s important to apply two coats to achieve a thickness of 3-4mm. For internal applications, [SLICS™] can be directly skimmed or plastered without the need for a primer or PVA. However, it’s worth noting that the drying times will be longer in these cases. Whether you’re using Multi-finish, Board-finish, or airless plasterers, they are all compatible with the application of [SLICS™].

We have Approved [SLICS™] Applicators located all across the UK, spanning from Shetland to Jersey and everywhere in between. No matter your location, we are confident that there will be an Approved Applicator available to assist you.

You can use a jet wash to clean the cork, but it’s important to maintain a safe distance. Getting too close with high pressure can cause damage to the cork, as pressured water can act like a sharp blade. However, it’s worth noting that [SLICS™] Cork possesses inherent anti-microbial properties and naturally resists algae. Nonetheless, we recommend an annual cleaning to keep the surface in optimal condition.

The warranty provided is specifically for the product and is issued by the manufacturer. If you have any inquiries about the warranty on the workmanship, it would be best to consult with the Approved [SLICS™] Applicator directly. The product warranty extends for a period of 10 years and covers any potential product failures. However, please note that the warranty does not cover damages occurring after installation or any issues related to poor workmanship.

While it is possible to paint Decoproyec® ECOPROCORK® [SLICS™], we generally advise against it. The product is designed to be long-lasting and is available in a variety of attractive colors, eliminating the need for additional paint. If you do choose to paint the [SLICS™], it is crucial to select a breathable and natural paint to prevent any potential invalidation of the warranty. However, please note that painting the [SLICS™] may impact its breathability and fire resistance, so we do not recommend this approach.

When upgrading your property, it’s essential to consider all options. With Decoproyec® ECOPROCORK® [SLICS™], you have the flexibility to apply it internally and then skim/plaster over it, creating Thin Internal Wall Insulation (TIWI) with a smooth finish and paint, all at a thickness of only 8mm. Alternatively, Decoproyec® ECOPROCORK® [SLICS™] can be applied externally, providing a refreshing transformation and significant improvement in appearance, along with a host of other benefits.
Both options offer flexibility, breathability, thermal and acoustic insulation, mould and condensation prevention, and fire resistance. The performance of both options is equally impressive. They have undergone ISO9869 testing and can provide approximately 30% energy savings in terms of heat transfer through walls. For addressing condensation or black spot mould, the internal application is recommended. It is particularly beneficial for heritage buildings or situations where external application is not feasible. The versatility of these options allows you to choose the approach that best suits your needs and circumstances. So, why not consider both possibilities for your property upgrade?
