Original problem

The farmhouse had water-saturated brickwork behind cement render that trapped moisture. Winter cracking allowed further water ingress, leaving the walls unable to dry out. The property felt cold, with cold internal walls contributing to black mould, particularly in the bedrooms.

System used

ECOPROCORK® SLICS™ spray cork combined with cork ETICS external insulation boards.

Completed exterior

The completed white exterior gives the farmhouse a fresh finish, with cork external insulation and a spray cork coating forming the refurbishment build-up.

A long-term exterior follow-up

Harborne, seven years on

Similarly, this shaded Victorian end terrace used a lime and cork basecoat and SLICS™ spray cork, with an exterior follow-up seven years later.

Original problem

This Victorian end-terrace home in Harborne had persistent moss and algae on its shaded exterior wall. Poor insulation left the internal walls cold, with black mould also a concern.

System used

A lime and cork basecoat with the ECOPROCORK® SLICS™ spray cork system.

Evidenced outcome

Lichen and moss have not returned to the treated wall. The follow-up photograph shows a visibly clear wall beside moss-covered ground.
