01 / Define your objective
Separate appearance, comfort, moisture management and energy-performance goals. Identify which outcomes need calculations, testing or formal assessment.
ECOPROCORK® · Energy performance
If your objective is a better EPC rating or lower heat loss, start with the building assessment and the performance of the complete proposed construction.

Understanding an EPC
An Energy Performance Certificate records a building’s energy rating and includes recommendations for improvement. It is prepared through an energy assessment using the applicable methodology.
A material’s thermal-conductivity figure, an installation photograph or a manufacturer’s general description does not establish a change in the building’s EPC rating.
Before commissioning work specifically to improve a rating, ask an accredited energy assessor what can be recognised and what supporting evidence will be needed.
Ask the technical team for the named products, proposed build-up, installed thickness and relevant material evidence for your project.
The resulting wall performance, interaction with the existing construction and any effect on an EPC or energy use need project-specific assessment. No universal rating uplift or percentage saving is promised here.
A practical order of work
Separate appearance, comfort, moisture management and energy-performance goals. Identify which outcomes need calculations, testing or formal assessment.
Review the existing construction, condition and necessary repairs. Consider insulation, heating and ventilation together with moisture behaviour.
Compare the proposed cork build-up with suitable alternatives at their specified thickness. A thin coating and a full insulation system should not be treated as equivalent.
Agree which product records, thickness information, installation photographs and other documents should be retained. Confirm the assessor’s evidence requirements before work begins.
Share the property type, location, existing wall or roof construction, current assessment and the outcome you need. We can discuss the relevant ECOPROCORK route and technical information for your design team.
For EPC requirements and assessment information, refer to GOV.UK’s EPC guidance collection and its guide for dwellings. Check the rules relevant to your property and jurisdiction with a qualified adviser.
This page explains the relationship between material information and building assessment. It does not promise a particular EPC result or confirm compliance for an individual property.
Use our Insulation & Retrofit hub to compare wall options. Review internal and external insulation with the design team before asking an energy assessor what can be recognised. No route guarantees a particular EPC uplift.
