ECOPROCORK® · Applications & solutions

The right cork system starts with your building.

Explore cork applications for exterior renovation, internal wall improvement or a specialist roof project. Then confirm what your property needs.

01 · Exterior renovation

Give tired walls a considered new finish.

ECOPROCORK SLICS™ is the spray-applied cork system route for suitable surfaces. Start by assessing the existing render or masonry, repairs, adhesion and the details around openings.

A textured coating can be part of a renovation specification. It does not repair structural movement, make unsound render sound or remove the need to investigate recurring cracks.

Choose the colour and texture with a physical sample. Discuss exposure, substrate compatibility and the full preparation sequence before agreeing the work.

02 · Internal walls

Understand cold walls before covering them.

Ask about ECOPROCORK TLICS™ for suitable trowel-applied internal work. The proposed build-up, substrate condition, thickness and finish need to be agreed for the individual project.

Cold surfaces, water ingress, heating and ventilation can all matter when condensation or mould is present. Identify the causes and necessary repairs first; a surface treatment alone is not a complete damp-and-mould strategy.

For a thermal upgrade, compare the calculated performance of the complete wall. A thin cork layer and an insulation-board system should not be assumed to deliver the same result.

03 · Specialist roofs

Specify the whole roof system.

ECOPROCORK SLICS-R™ is the roof application route. Establish the roof material and condition, drainage, junctions, existing coatings and access requirements before selecting a build-up.

The cork layer must not be treated as a standalone waterproofing solution. Confirm the required primers, waterproofing components, details and maintenance with the technical team.

Roof work requires competent assessment and safe access. Where a roof may contain asbestos, obtain specialist advice before any work that could disturb it.

04 · Retrofit & specification

Start with the performance your project needs.

ETICS means external thermal insulation composite system: a coordinated build-up including insulation and a protective finish. Discuss ECOPROCORK ETICS with the team as a complete specification.

For homes, housing portfolios and commercial buildings, consider moisture, ventilation, fire performance, interfaces, installation and maintenance together.

Any U-value, energy-saving, EPC or compliance claim needs evidence appropriate to the exact construction. A material test result alone does not establish whole-building performance.

05 · SLICS-C Coastal Protection

Refresh your coastal frontage.
Plan for life by the sea.

A cork-based exterior refurbishment route for coastal homes, hotels and exposed frontages. Bring appearance, exposure and future upkeep into one project brief.

  • Coastal character: explore colours and cork textures that work with the property.
  • A considered build-up: assess suitable existing surfaces, reinforced basecoats or coordinated cork-board insulation.
  • Exposure in the specification: plan preparation, repairs and detailing for salt-laden air and wind-driven rain.
  • Maintenance from the outset: consider inspection, access and a realistic care plan.

06 · SLICS-M Marine Insulation

Bring comfort aboard.
Make the most of your interior.

Internal cork insulation for boats and narrowboats, including assessed barge and houseboat conversions. Plan a compact spray-applied layer around the way you want to live aboard.

  • Follow the contours: coat accessible curves, panels and framing with less cutting and fitting around details.
  • Preserve useful space: work around headroom, cupboards and services with a compact cork layer.
  • Build for the fit-out: apply specified successive coats and inspect coverage before closing the lining.
  • Plan the complete interior: coordinate cork with insulation, ventilation, heating and moisture control.

Confirm the product grade, preparation, compatible layers and complete specification for each application. A thin cork coating does not establish a whole-wall or vessel U-value. Salt-spray and fire evidence applies within the documented test scope; it does not establish immersion suitability, general corrosion protection or marine approval. Read the system pages and technical evidence library for the detail.

Bring the right details to your enquiry.

01 / THE BUILDING

Location & condition

Share your postcode, property type, approximate age and the problem you want to solve. Explain any damp, cracking or previous repairs.

02 / THE SURFACE

Photos & existing finish

Prepare wide views and close-ups, approximate areas and details of known coatings. Do not disturb unknown or potentially hazardous materials to investigate them.

03 / THE OUTCOME

Scope & specification

Explain your desired appearance, performance goals and timescale. Ask for the proposed system, preparation, evidence and written scope of work.

Specialist surfaces and mobile buildings

Planning a campervan, boat, canal barge, shipping container, static caravan or park home? Discuss the proposed substrate and build-up before purchasing. Confirm adhesion to the existing finish, corrosion and moisture condition, movement, application thickness, fire requirements and detailing. Thin cork finishes should not be assumed to replace the insulation required for the complete construction.

Marine exposure, immersed surfaces and vehicle applications require evidence for the particular use. We do not describe these applications as approved simply because cork is present. Share the project details so the team can confirm whether a supported specification is available.

Heritage, solid walls and compatible finishes

Traditional brick, stone, earth and timber construction can absorb, store and release moisture. Assess the wall and its existing finishes as a whole. Vapour permeability alone does not describe how liquid water, leaks, rain exposure or ventilation affect the building.

Specify preparation, lime-compatible layers and the proposed cork finish for the actual substrate. Resolve defects and confirm any conservation requirements before altering an older property. Historic England explains traditional building behaviour. Request evidence for the chosen build-up.

Lichen, moss and exterior maintenance

Shaded and exposed walls need a maintenance plan as well as a finish. Assess existing biological growth, moisture, drainage, surrounding vegetation and substrate condition before preparation. Use cleaning methods compatible with the selected product and follow its maintenance instructions.

Our Harborne follow-up photograph shows one treated exterior beside moss-covered ground. This project record does not promise that growth can never occur on other properties. Discuss exposure, detailing and likely cleaning requirements for your own wall. Explore coastal exposure.
