What is ECOPROCORK?

ECOPROCORK provides cork-based building-system options, practical applicator training and technical support. The right route depends on the building, surface and intended outcome. Start with the Applications guide or discuss a specific project with the team.

What is the difference between SLICS™, TLICS™, SLICS-R™ and ETICS?

SLICS™ is the spray-applied cork system route; TLICS™ covers trowel-applied internal cork options; SLICS-R™ is the specialist roof route. ETICS refers to a complete external thermal insulation composite system. These names are not interchangeable specifications: confirm the products, preparation, build-up and scope for the proposed application.

Is spray cork the same as external wall insulation?

A cork coating and a complete external wall insulation system have different build-ups. Do not assume they provide equivalent insulation. If your objective is a thermal upgrade, ask for a calculation for the complete wall, including the specified material and installed thickness.

SLICS-C · Coastal Protection

What is SLICS-C Coastal Protection?

SLICS-C is ECOPROCORK’s cork-based exterior refurbishment route for coastal homes, hotels and exposed frontages. It brings the finish, surface preparation, exposure and future upkeep into one project brief. Explore colours and texture while planning a suitable build-up for the property. Explore SLICS-C Coastal Protection.

What can SLICS-C offer a coastal property?

A refreshed coloured cork finish, application routes suited to the assessed wall, and a considered approach to coastal exposure and maintenance. Depending on the project, the route may involve a sound prepared substrate, a reinforced basecoat or coordinated cork-board insulation. Agree repairs, junctions, sample areas and care requirements with the applicator. See coastal project context and explore system build-ups.

What does the salt-spray evidence show?

AIDICO report IT130117 records 1,000 hours of neutral salt spray under UNE-EN ISO 9227:2006. Tested cork-coated fibreglass specimens showed no visible change or observed adhesion defect. On the metal specimen, the exposed metal oxidised while the coated face showed no apparent change. This supports consideration of the tested material in a coastal specification; it does not establish universal corrosion protection, façade service life or immersion suitability. Read the result, original report and scope.

SLICS-M · Internal Boat Insulation

What is SLICS-M Marine Insulation?

SLICS-M is the internal cork-insulation application route for boats and narrowboats, including assessed barge and houseboat conversions. Spray application follows accessible curves, panels and framing with a compact cork layer, helping fit-out teams work around interior space and structural details. Explore SLICS-M Marine Insulation and see interior conversion photographs.

Can SLICS-M provide all the insulation my boat needs?

Plan its contribution as part of the full hull, roof, floor and lining design. A compact cork layer can be useful where space and complex shapes matter, but thermal resistance depends on verified product data and installed thickness. Additional insulation may be needed for your intended season and occupancy. Obtain current grade-specific thermal data before calculations; historical sprayed-cork figures contain a discrepancy and are not established as current design values. Read the thermal evidence notes.

Can SLICS-M help with condensation and sound inside a boat?

Consider cork within the comfort and moisture-control design. Coordinate the lining, insulation, ventilation, heating and moisture sources with the boatbuilder or competent designer. The steel hull remains vapour-impermeable, even if the coating is vapour-permeable. No universal condensation cure or vessel-specific decibel reduction is established by the available evidence.

Is SLICS-M an underwater coating or a marine-approved lining?

The SLICS-M route described here concerns suitable internal surfaces. The evidence cited does not establish permanent-immersion suitability, underwater hull protection or IMO/MED or class-society approval. The documented sprayed-cork C-s1,d0 reaction-to-fire result applies within its tested specimen and mounting scope; it is not approval of every complete vessel lining. Confirm the requirements for the particular boat. Read the fire classification and scope.

Specialist application, training & buying

How are SLICS-C and SLICS-M applied?

Both use a specified sprayed-cork approach, with preparation tailored to the actual surface. For coastal walls, assess existing finishes, damp, salts, cracks and repairs; agree any supporting layers and representative samples. For boat interiors, confirm existing coatings, corrosion treatment, cleaning, compatible primers and trial-area adhesion. Agree the selected grade, total dry thickness, successive coats, drying and inspections. Boat fit-outs also need coverage checks before the lining closes the structure. Read the practical planning checklists.

Can I learn the skills at the ECOPROCORK Academy?

The Academy’s one-day course develops core preparation, mixing, equipment setup, spray application and quality-checking skills. Tell the team if you want to work on coastal properties or internal boat insulation so they can confirm course suitability, specialist scope and any additional training or guidance. Attendance alone does not confer Approved Applicator status, a separate marine qualification or approval for every application. Explore Academy training and enquire.

Where can I check technical evidence and accreditation references?

Start with Technology & Quality for evidence matrices and institution references, then open the technical library for datasheets, original reports and document status. Match each document to the supplied grade, substrate, thickness and complete build-up. Laboratory results, manufacturer management-system references and product or installed-system approvals have different scopes; a listed institution or standard alone does not certify every application.

Where can I buy products and spray equipment?

Visit the ECOPROCORK shop to explore DECOPROYEC sprayed cork, CP19 spray equipment and other components. Confirm the selected grade, compatible preparation products, equipment setup, quantities and current availability against the project specification before ordering. Buying a product does not by itself establish a complete SLICS-C or SLICS-M specification. Ask the team about your project.

What should I send with a coastal or boat project enquiry?

Share photographs, location, approximate area, existing surfaces and coatings, condition and the outcome you want. For boats, include hull material, vessel type, interior access, planned lining and intended use. For coastal buildings, include frontage exposure, repairs and any damp or salt concerns. These details help the team discuss the right route and supporting evidence. Start a project enquiry.

Your building & existing problems

Can ECOPROCORK help with cold internal walls?

Discuss the wall construction, existing finish, moisture condition and desired improvement with the technical team. An internalcork specification may be considered for suitable projects, but its contribution should be assessed alongside insulation options, heating, ventilation and the building’s condition.

Will it solve damp, condensation or black mould?

There is no single coating solution for every cause of damp or mould. Leaks, water ingress, inadequate ventilation, heating and cold surfaces can all need attention. Investigate and address the causes, then decide whether a suitable wall treatment belongs in the remedial plan. Do not simply cover affected or damp material.

Does “breathable” mean I no longer need ventilation?

No. Water-vapour movement through a material is different from ventilation that replaces indoor air. A vapour-permeable wall finish does not replace an appropriate ventilation strategy. The complete wall build-up and its existing coatings also affect moisture behaviour.

Can it be applied over existing render?

Potentially, where the substrate and existing coating are compatible and sufficiently sound. An applicator should assess adhesion, moisture, contamination, cracks and repair requirements. Unsound render and ongoing movement require attention before a finish is specified.

Will it repair cracks?

A coating is not a structural repair. Establish why a crack has formed and agree the necessary preparation and repair. Any crack-bridging or flexibility claim must refer to the tested product, conditions and installed system.

Can cork be used on a roof?

Roof applications require a roof-specific specification, suitable substrate, safe access and sound detailing. The cork layer alone should not be relied on as a waterproofing system. Confirm the required primers, waterproofing components and maintenance with ECOPROCORK before work begins.

Planning, cost & installation

How do I choose the colour and texture?

Use the colour chart as a starting point, then request a physical sample and confirm current availability. Screen settings, light and surrounding materials affect appearance. Agree the finish and any sample area with your applicator before installation.

How much does installation cost?

The quotation depends on area, access, substrate condition, preparation, repairs and the specified build-up. Provide your location, photographs, approximate area and project requirements. Read our spray cork cost guide and ask for a written scope that identifies preparation, materials, access, VAT and exclusions.

What warranty applies?

Request the current written terms for the exact products and proposed installation. Confirm who provides the warranty, the duration, eligibility, exclusions, maintenance obligations and claim process. Do not rely on a single general duration applying to every ECOPROCORK project.

How do I find an Approved Applicator?

Contact ECOPROCORK with your postcode and project type. Ask the team to confirm current approval, suitable system experience, service area and availability. Agree the survey, contract and scope with the installer who will carry out the work.

Technical evidence

Where can I find technical evidence?

Start with technical information and request the relevant current datasheet, test report and system guidance. Check that each document matches the named product, thickness, substrate and application. Material test results do not automatically establish the performance of a complete building.

Training, trade & buying materials

Can I buy products without training?

You can buy products without completing training. Purchases for untrained application are supplied without an ECOPROCORK system/application warranty. Your statutory rights are unaffected. Browse the shop.

Is the training cost refunded against my first order?

We refund the training cost against your first £1,000 product order when no trade discount is applied. This offer is not combined with a trade discount. View training details.

How does applicator training work?

Start with the one-day practical course. Afterwards, you can choose an optional specialist area or focus. Ask about the requirements for Approved Applicator status; attendance alone should not be assumed to approve every type of installation.

Is business support compulsory after training?

No. Business-development support is an optional next step for applicators who want it. Discuss your priorities and the scope of support separately. The professional journey is: Train → Become Approved → Install → Get Supported → Grow.

I already use ECOPROCORK. Where do I order?
